Tom Leeming

Customer Success Manager, Beneficial Deployments, EMEA

14 years in the nonprofit sector. The last few getting charities to actually use AI.

I've onboarded, trained and supported the people Beneficial Deployments serves, and built the workflows on Claude to do it. I'd like to do it for Anthropic.

Customer success

I've been doing this job, with a smaller logo.

At Fundin I own the whole customer lifecycle for organisations adopting AI, mostly small charities with no technical staff. Here's how that maps to the role.

Onboarding

Getting a new organisation to its first real result fast, often within a day. When I saw half of new users try the AI but only a quarter get properly set up, I rebuilt onboarding around that drop-off.

Adoption

Webinars, one-to-one training and onboarding sessions that get charity staff using Claude for real work. I build the workflows and Claude skills they need, and teach them to build their own. I personally coach around ten organisations between calls.

Retention

We guarantee outcomes: if a client doesn't get more back than they pay us within 12 months, we refund the difference. That makes their success the metric, not the renewal date. Customers have won £5.4m between them.

Expansion

Growing accounts as their needs grow, and turning every support call into product feedback for the engineering team.

Workflows built

Deployments I've led with Claude.

Each of these is a playbook, not a one-off. Built once, then reused with other charities: the same workflow, their own data. Each also had to work for several teams with different jobs, levels of confidence and sign-off rights. That's what I'd bring to your partners: proven patterns that scale across organisations.

Claude + Google Drive

Automating monitoring and impact reporting

Problem
Monitoring data is spread across spreadsheets, forms and session notes. Pulling it into funder and board reports takes days every quarter.
Built
Claude connected to Google Drive collects attendance, outcomes and case notes into one report in each funder's format, and flags gaps for staff to fill.
Stakeholders
Delivery staff recording data, managers checking it, and the CEO, trustees and funders receiving the reports.
Impact
72% less time spent on monitoring and reporting.
Claude + public data

Funder research

Problem
Finding the right funders means reading guidance, past grants and annual accounts. Most teams don't have the time, so they apply to the same few.
Built
Claude connected to UK charity and funder data, producing a ranked shortlist with evidence of fit: giving history, geography and typical grant size.
Stakeholders
Fundraising and delivery teams shaping the projects, finance checking budgets, and leadership and trustees approving the strategy.
Impact
Research across 171k charities and funders in plain English.
Claude + HubSpot

Donor research

Problem
Supporter data sits in the CRM, but nobody has time to spot major donor prospects or supporters who are drifting away.
Built
Claude connected to HubSpot segments supporters, researches prospects and drafts personal follow-ups. A person approves every contact.
Stakeholders
Individual giving teams, the data protection lead signing off use of supporter data, and IT managing access.
Impact
£35k extra raised from existing donors within six weeks.
Claude + prospecting tools

Finding corporate partners

Problem
Charities know businesses back causes like theirs, but can't find the right ones or the right person to contact.
Built
A reusable Claude workflow that scores companies on five signals of fit and lines up the best for outreach, re-run every month.
Stakeholders
CEOs and partnership leads approving targets and messaging, with the outreach run each month.
Impact
10 new corporate partners worth over £50k.

Three talks in the past six weeks on how charities can get started with AI, focused almost entirely on Claude.

Plus webinars, one-to-one training, onboarding sessions, videos and a newsletter, reaching 10,000+ people across the sector.

How I'd do the role

My first 90 days.

30

Learn

  • Meet every account in my portfolio and the Beneficial Deployments, Applied AI and sales teams.
  • Learn the full product set: API, Claude for Enterprise, Claude Code.
  • Set a health baseline for each partner: usage, use cases, blockers, sponsors.
60

Prove

  • A success plan per partner with two or three measurable use cases.
  • Run the first business reviews and a cohort workshop for nonprofit staff.
  • Bring every stakeholder in early, from leadership and IT to frontline teams, and rebuild each team's most time-consuming workflow with Claude.
  • Build human approval into every workflow from day one, and loosen it only as trust is earned.
90

Scale

  • A repeatable EMEA nonprofit onboarding playbook covering GDPR, safeguarding and trustee sign-off.
  • A shared library of proven workflows and skills partners can copy.
  • Expansion opportunities handed to account executives with the case already made.

The objections, answered

Three reasons you might pass, and why I'd ask you not to.

No degree

I dropped out of university to start a business, and I've learned by doing ever since: building, selling, reading, watching and testing. I'm a relentless learner. It's how I came to know the nonprofit world inside out, and how I know what Claude can change for it.

Leeds, not London

I'll make it work. Whenever you need me, in the office or with a partner anywhere in EMEA, I'll be there.

Never worked in a large organisation

I've worked in a tech startup, sold into schools and councils, and partnered with charities and national governing bodies. At Fundin I've been customer success, support, training and account management at once, with nobody to escalate to. I'll bring that ownership to a team with far more behind it.
